Over the Christmas period we were notified of the passing of Wng Cmdr Lloyd Wiggins DSO DFC on the 27th of December 2015. Lloyd Wiggins was a fighter pilot in World War II and flew in many operations in the Middle East and Europe.  Lloyd Wiggins also served the South Australian veteran community with an amazing 64 years of service at the Legacy Club of Adelaide.  Lloyd Wiggins went on to be an esteemed member while serving at the Legacy Club of Adelaide and Broken Hill including a term as State President. Mark Bouchier President of the Legacy Club of Adelaide and Broken Hill  made the below statement on behalf of the Legacy Club of Adelaide and Broken Hill

“The Board and members of the Legacy Club of Adelaide were saddened to learn of the passing of our highly esteemed Past President, Lloyd Wiggins.

On the 16th of August 1951, Lloyd was inducted into Legacy and so began an over 60 year term of exemplary service to the widows and dependents of deceased ex-service personnel.

Lloyd’s distinguished service in the RAAF during World War 2, equipped him with a great affinity for those for whom he cared and this fostered many long term friendships.

Much respected for his commitment to the ideals of Legacy, Lloyd built strong relationships with his peers, based on loyalty, honesty and honour.

As well as serving as President in 1964, he was an effective and enthusiastic member of a myriad of committees during his long membership of the Club.

Lloyd was a fine exemplar to younger Legatees and a great ambassador for the Legacy movement, he will be much missed.

Mark Bourchier

President, The Legacy Club of Adelaide.”
