Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Dan Tehan today announced 62 community projects honouring Australia’s servicemen and women would receive more than $140,000 in Australian Government funding.
Mr Tehan said the projects, funded under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program, honoured the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in our armed forces.
“These grants help communities across the nation build and preserve memorials, hold commemorative events and undertake activities that teach younger generations about Australia’s wartime history,” Mr Tehan said.
“These projects are driven by local community groups to honour our military history in ways that are important and relevant to them.”
The Community Commemorative Grants category of the Saluting Their Service program provides up to $4,000 for individual projects, and applications are accepted at any time.
Mr Tehan said he encouraged interested groups and organisations to review the grant guidelines and submit a request for funding to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
A list of grant recipients in each state is attached. All figures are GST free.
