The ANZAC Day Commemoration Act 2005 was established to continue and enhance the commemoration of ANZAC Day as a day of national significance and for other purposes.

The ANZAC Day Commemoration Fund was established by the ANZAC Day Commemoration Act 2005. The Act states that the Fund may be applied by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs after consultation with the Veterans’ Advisory Council.

Applicants can seek funding for eligible projects that educate the South Australian community about the significance of Australia’s military history, support commemorative activities for all conflicts and assist those who have served our country.

The object of the ANZAC Day Commemoration Act 2005 is to ensure that the contribution of all people who have served Australia in time of war or armed conflict, or in international peace-keeping operations, in which Australia has been involved, is recognised and commemorated in South Australia.

The ANZAC Day Commemoration Act 2005 allows for the restriction of holding a public sports or entertainment event between the hours of 5.00 am and 12 noon on ANZAC Day in any year. This restriction applies to any organisation who proposes to, or would normally, conduct a public sports or entertainment event on ANZAC Day.
