Congratulations to 2019 Australia Day Award Recipients

Congratulations to these outstanding members of our community who were presented with Australia Day Awards in 2019.

 

Mr David Gray AM

Mr David Gray AM has been appointed as a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Gray has been recognised for his significant service to veterans and their families through a range of executive roles.

These roles include the Inaugural Chairman of Legacy Australia Incorporated and various executive roles with the Legacy Australia Council and the Legacy Club of Adelaide. Mr Gray has also served on the Commonwealth Department of Veterans’ Affairs National Consultative Framework and Ex-Service Organisation Roundtable.

Mr Gray’s dedication and service is greatly valued by the local community.

 

 

Mr Dinh Duy Ninh OAM

Mr Dinh has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Dinh has been recognised for service to veterans and their families.

His dedication to the Vietnamese Navy Veterans’ Association as Founder and President since 1985 and as the current President of the Vietnamese Veterans’ Association of South Australia highlights his service to the veteran community.

Mr Dinh is very highly regarded by veterans of the Vietnam War who served with the Australian Defence Force and was instrumental in the construction of the Vietnam War Memorial, which is adjacent to the Torrens Parade Ground. This magnificent memorial features an Australian Soldier standing side by side with a South Vietnamese soldier. It will leave a permanent legacy on South Australia’s commemorative landscape.

 

 

Mr Geoffrey Hills OAM

Mr Geoffrey Hills OAM has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Hills has been recognised for service to the community.

Mr Hills was a Marshal on the Anzac Day Committee of the Returned and Services League of Australia, Instructor and Leader with the Air Force Cadets, Volunteer Marshal Coordinator, Adelaide Australia Day Parade, member of the Graffiti Removal Squad, City of Tea Tree Gully and volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels.

Mr Hills service is greatly valued by the local community. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Hills for his service to South Australia through his service in the Australian Army Reserve.

 

 

Mr Howard Hendrick DFC OAM

Mr Howard Hendrick DFC OAM has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List.

Mr Hendrick has been recognised for his service to the community of Loxton.

His dedication to community service at St Albert’s Catholic School, Loxton Aero Club, Loxton Agricultural Bureau and the Loxton Sub-Branch of the Returned and Services League of Australia is greatly valued by the local community.

This recognition follows being named Australia Day Citizen of the Year in 2016 by the District Council of Loxton Waikerie and being awarded the Legion of Honour by the Government of France in 2017.

We also wish to take this opportunity to thank Mr Hendrick for his service in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II.

 

 

Mr Ronald Blood OAM

Mr Ronald Blood OAM has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List. 

Mr Blood has been recognised for his service to veterans and their families.

His dedication to community service over many years as the Secretary and Newsletter Editor of the 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment Association, South Australia is greatly valued by the local community.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Blood for his service in the Australian Army during the Vietnam War with the 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.
