South Australia has a passionate and dedicated ex-service organisation community and I am excited to see the innovative and meaningful proposals that are submitted in this round to further build capacity and capability within the community.
The Veterans SA 2023-2024 Capacity Building and Commemorative Services grant rounds have opened today, offering a combined total of $35,000 in funding to veteran and ex-service organisations in South Australia.
The Capacity Building Grant Fund offers organisations a share in $25,000 to fund projects and initiatives that will strengthen and support organisations to improve governance practices and skills that help them build their capacity to lead, develop and advocate for their communities.
Veterans SA Director Chantelle Bohan said the grants provided important support for programs and services delivered to the veteran community in South Australia to grow stronger.
“For several years, the Capacity Building and Commemorative Services Grant Funds have provided valuable support to veteran organisations to help deliver important events and programs that honour and better serve our veterans and their families,” Ms Bohan said.
“South Australia has a passionate and dedicated ex-service organisation community and I am excited to see the innovative and meaningful proposals that are submitted in this round to further build capacity and capability within the community.”
Earlier this year, three organisations were awarded grants through the 2022-23 Capacity Building Grant Fund. The funding supported projects ranging from upskilling staff in digital marketing literacy to delivering a training scholarship and trauma aware education for yoga teachers to better cater to the needs of the local military and veteran community.
The Commemorative Services Grant Fund is available to support organisations with the costs of delivering commemorative events that honour the service and sacrifice of South Australian veterans and their families.
Five organisations from across the state were successful in receiving Commemorative Services grants in 2022-23, which included support for services commemorating Vietnam Veterans Day, which marked the 50th anniversary since the end of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War in 2023.
Applications are invited from organisations across the state for the delivery of initiatives and projects within South Australia.
Both grants will remain open until 31 May 2024, unless funds are exhausted sooner.
