On Friday 22 November 2019 representatives of Veterans SA, the Veterans’ Advisory Council and the South Australian Mental Health Commission met with Karen Court from Overwatch Australia at the invitation of Chris Burns, South Australia’s Mental Health Commissioner. A message from Overwatch Australia appears below.
Overwatch Australia is a not for profit organisation tasked with reaching out and assisting former Australian Defence Force (ADF) members. A peer to peer, boots on the ground, first response organisation formed to assist current and former ADF members who are at risk or in crisis.
Once engaged, and the veteran’s safety assured, Overwatch Australia will then act as a bridge to other Ex Services Organisations (ESOs) better equipped to help with the individual needs of the person they are helping.
They are one of very few organisations that actively communicate with former ADF members and provide assistance when in crisis rather than waiting for them to come to them.
If you require assistance from Overwatch Australia please call our 1800 number (1800 699 2824) at any time and talk to an experienced response coordinator.
If you are a current or ex serving member who would like to volunteer your time to Overwatch Australia drop us a Facebook message to our community page https://www.facebook.com/OverwatchAustralia/ providing a brief outline of your service and our admin will send you a link to the appropriate service related group from within the 9 networked groups and also give you a bit of a run down on how they work.
