Market Square Burra 5417 SA
The Market Square Museum is a recreation of an old style general store, post office and family home at the turn of the century. The Museum features turn of the century relics including a Drum Major’s Staff used by the Burra Cheer Up Ladies Band.
It was presented to the band by Mr W Thorn, bandmaster of the Adelaide Locomotive Band, in 1917. Ceremonial staffs are used by bands to convey signals to the musicians. For more information about the Drum Major’s staff click here.
