Eyre Peninsula Outreach Visit
Veterans SA conducted an outreach visit to the Eyre Peninsular between 24-28 February.
We would like to thank the Port Lincoln, Streaky Bay, Ceduna, Cowell, Tumby Bay and Cummins RSL Sub Branches and Mr Lyndon Giles and Mr and Mrs Kloock from Coorabie for welcoming us and for their hospitality.
It is important that we remain in touch with our regional communities to stay abreast of what is going on and learn of areas where we can assist.
Cowell RSL Sub Branch is celebrating its centenary in May this year and Tumby Bay RSL is celebrating its centenary in February 2020.
South Australia’s most western War Memorial is located in Coorabie, 10kms south of the Nullarbor highway. The memorial was recently restored with the assistance of an Anzac Centenary Commemoration Fund grant, and a lot of in-kind assistance from the surrounding areas. It is worth a visit.
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their schedules to meet with us to showcase the wonderful work being done in their communities and the contributions they are making to ensure that our proud military history is not forgotten and our veterans are looked after and appropriately commemorated.
