The Port Pirie community will have more opportunities to learn about Australia’s military history with the Malinauskas Labor Government supporting a new digital display at the RSL Museum.

Nearly $4000 will be provided to the Port Pirie RSL Museum to purchase and install a new digital kiosk which will be used to provide “On This Day” military history.

The new digital noticeboard will replace an old whiteboard, helping to bring military history to life for visitors and support the museum’s efforts to share the stories of local veterans with future generations.

The Port Pirie RSL Museum is run by volunteers and pays tribute to all Australians who served in armed conflicts and peacekeeping missions, with a special focus on the contributions of service personnel from Port Pirie and surrounding areas.

The new technology will also allow volunteers to spend more time supporting visitors, maintaining exhibits and caring for the museum’s collection.

The funding by the Malinauskas Labor Government, through Veterans SA, forms part of ongoing support for South Australian organisations for activities and initiatives that honour service and assist veterans, their families and the broader community to thrive.

The new digital noticeboard will support greater community engagement and create more meaningful visitor experiences.
We are pleased to support this important initiative to educate the community about local military stories and key dates, to preserve the legacies of our veteran community.

The Port Pirie RSL Museum is a fantastic place that preserves the history and stories of our local veterans.

The new digital kiosk will be a simple but excellent addition that makes it easier for visitors to connect with our history.

Whether you’re a local, a student or just passing through, this new display will provide another reason to visit the museum and reflect on the contribution our region has made to Australia’s military history.

Quotes attributable to Eleanor Wolf, Project Officer, Port Pirie RSL Museum
For our community, the display will ensure that the stories of our local veterans will never be forgotten or lost. By preserving these narratives in a dynamic, digital format we can share their legacy with future generations.

We believe that the adoption of this technology demonstrates that we are keeping pace with modern visitor expectations, making the museum a more attractive destination, especially for younger generations and school groups.

We are very grateful to the South Australian Government for supporting this initiative.
