Delphie Graham
This is the story of Delphie Graham.
Delphie Gwynneth Graham had a French grandmother and loved speaking the language. When war broke out, she wanted to join the Free French Forces, but encountered strict parental opposition. Instead, the young Del Edwards (as she was then) had to settle for a nursing career – through the Australian Army Medical Women’s Service.
Delphie’s story was collected as part of a oral history community project called World War II in Words where South Australian World War Two veterans shared their stories in their own words.
