Four South Australian community and ex-service organisations have been selected to receive funding through the Federal Government’s Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program.
In this round, 55 organisations from around the country will each receive a share of $770,000 in grant funding.
South Australian projects will receive $64,358 of this funding, with awarded projects including the restoration of plaques and stonework at the Burra Soldier Memorial, and production of a podcast documenting veteran and war widows’ service and experiences.
The Saluting their Service Commemorative Grants Program delivers Community Grants up to $10,000 and Major Grants up to $150,000.

South Australia recipients – Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants 2024-25, Batch 3:
- Returned & Services League of Australia (Burra Sub-Branch) Inc – Restoring 120-year-old Burra Soldier Memorial plaques and stonework in the Burra Historical Market Square
- Returned & Services League of Australia (Waikerie) Sub-Branch Inc – Creating a podcast documenting SA veteran and war widows’ military service experiences featuring a photographic exhibition of veteran life and service.
- The William Kibby VC Veterans Shed Association Inc – Commissioning artist Sean Halfpenny to design and paint a mural on the front of the William Kibby VC Veterans Shed at Glenelg North Community Centre.
- Volunteer Service for the Flinders Medical Centre Inc – Upgrading the display of heritage medical equipment used in theatres of war at the Repatriation Health Precinct Museum, Daw Park.
