I'm deeply inspired by everyone recognised in this year’s awards and the remarkable work they're doing for the veteran community
South Australia has taken centre stage at the 2025 Prime Minister’s Veteran Employment Awards, with local winners recognised for their outstanding support of veterans and their families.
These awards celebrate the people and organisations making a difference in the lives of veterans transitioning from the military to civilian life. This year, South Australia stood tall on the national stage, showcasing how our state champions veteran skills, experience and wellbeing.
The South Australian winners were:
- Veteran Employee of the Year: Taylor Cowell, Saab Australia
- Medium Employer of the Year: Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA)
Human Quotient Group, who deliver the Cowork Coplay program in South Australia, were also recognised as Small Employer of the Year at this year’s awards.
Taylor Cowell, an Australian Army veteran who is a Delivery Lead at Saab Australia and Chair of Saab Australia’s Veteran Advisory Committee, received the only individual accolade of the night.
As Deputy Chair of the South Australian Minister’s Veterans’ Advisory Council, Taylor is a passionate and talented advocate for veterans and their families in South Australia, and said the recognition reflects the strength of the community he represents.
“I’m truly honoured to receive this award. Like many veterans, my path after Defence wasn’t a straight one, but I was lucky to have a strong support network, access to education, and an employer like Saab that believed in my potential,” Mr Cowell said.
“This recognition isn’t just about me – it highlights what veterans can achieve when they’re given purpose, support, and meaningful opportunities.”
“I’m deeply inspired by everyone recognised in this year’s awards and the remarkable work they’re doing for the veteran community,” he said.
With almost 50 per cent more nominations than last year, competition was strong, but South Australia once again shone brightly.
Veterans SA Director Bianca Wheeler attended the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of South Australian finalists.
“It means a lot to see our South Australian veteran community recognised on the national stage. We’re a community that looks out for each other and creates real opportunities, and I want to help keep that momentum going across our state,” Ms Wheeler said.
“I see every day the dedication and resilience veterans bring to their work, and I’m proud to be part of a community that keeps finding new ways to serve after our time in uniform.”
The 2025 Prime Minister’s National Veteran Employment Awards were held under the theme Celebrating our growing community, recognising not only the achievements of veterans, partners and employers but also the broad and collective impact of the veteran employment community across Australia.
This year’s theme reflects a shared commitment to supporting veterans throughout their civilian careers and celebrates the strength and momentum of a community that continues to grow, evolve and drive change.
