A new pilot program will support South Australian veterans and Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel to transition into civilian careers, focusing on practical skills, building confidence and industry connections.

Supported by Veterans SA, the Skills to Industry Program is a free, three-week course running from 15 June to 3 July 2026.

Participants will complete a nationally recognised Diploma of Project Management alongside tailored career coaching, workshops and networking opportunities to help translate their Defence experience into civilian roles.

Veterans SA Director Bianca Wheeler said the program provides a clear pathway for veterans to move into civilian employment.

“This program combines formal qualifications with tailored support and industry connections to help veterans confidently transition into meaningful civilian careers,” Ms Wheeler said.

“It’s designed to support veterans at a key point in their transition, giving them practical tools, qualifications and real industry exposure to help them take the next step.”

Jointly delivered by Aimpoint, Military and Emergency Services Health Australia (MESHA) and the City of Playford, the program demonstrates how government, training providers and industry can work together to support employment pathways and address workforce needs in key sectors.

Aimpoint Chief Executive Officer Mark Robinson said the program has been designed to support veterans at a critical stage in their transition.

“Transitioning from service can be challenging, and securing stable employment is a critical part of achieving positive long-term outcomes,” Mr Robinson said.

“Through this initiative, we are helping veterans build confidence, strengthen their skills, connect with industry and improve their ability to secure sustainable employment opportunities beyond their service careers.”

The program centres on project management – a field in strong demand that builds on veterans’ experience in planning, leadership and delivering outcomes, skills highly valued across a wide range of industries.

Australian Army veteran and Project Manager at Saab Australia Daniel Grayson said similar training has supported his own transition.

“Achieving this qualification has not only enhanced my value to Saab, but it has also strengthened my employability in the civilian sector,” Mr Grayson said.

South Australian veterans who are transitioning or have already transitioned from the ADF are encouraged to apply.
